Does Sweden have any program designed for investors/entrepreneurs?
Yes, there are two types of visas foreign investors can obtain in Sweden:

Who can apply for Swedish citizenship by investment?
This scheme is open to entrepreneurs who want and can rise up to the high living standards of this country. Moreover, the government is keen on attracting entrepreneurs and persons willing to commit to long-term investments, which is why expedited citizenship cannot be obtained.
What are the conditions to obtain a Swedish self-employment visa?
This visa is available for foreign investors who can open a company in Sweden. It requires:
- sufficient money to support your stay in Sweden (SEK 200,000 for a minimum period of 2 years);
- good knowledge of the Swedish or English language;
- experience in running a business, and in the sector you plan to operate;
- evidence for the funds you plan to invest in a company and a solid business plan.
What are the conditions to obtain a start-up visa in Sweden?
The start-up visa is available for holders of an advanced-level (master's or higher) degree (formally, the permit to look for work or start a business, max. 9 months) who want to explore starting a business in Sweden. The idea must be innovative and must have growth potential.
For the self-employed permit, you must own at least 51% of the business, so you don’t need to invest the entire amount of money in the company. Proof to support yourself is also required. In order to have an idea about the minimum income, it is around 700 USD or EUR, while the average is around 4,500 USD or EUR.

Is direct Swedish permanent residency available through any of these visas?
No, you (and your family) will be first issued temporary residence permits with a validity of up to 2 years for the self-employment permit (the look-for-work/start-a-business permit lasts max. 9 months). You can renew them until you become eligible for permanent residency, which for self-employed persons is possible after 2 years.
How long can I apply for citizenship after making an investment in Sweden?
Non-EU citizens moving here based on a self-employed permit will first obtain permanent residency, which can be acquired after 2 years with a self-employed permit. In order to become an ordinary resident of Sweden, a foreign citizen must enroll with various authorities here, among which the Tax Agency and the Social Insurance Agency.
One then needs to become naturalized and live here for a minimum period of 8 years.
